BUDAPEST

Budapest, is a city of thermal baths, cafes, striking turn-of-the-century architecture, and most of all, a city of the Danube,
"whose gentle waves," according to the great Hungarian poet Attila Jozsef, "embrace past, present and future."
Straddling the wide river, which separates hilly Buda from level Pest,
the Hungarian capital offers one of the most striking metropolitan panoramas in Europe.

A unique experience to explore the Hungarian capital's landmarks is by taking the old-timer trams Duma and Thermal.
These quaint vintage vehicles operate in Budapest along the Danube Promenade,
in the vicinity of the thermal baths in Buda, in the city centre as well as on the river Danube.
It only runs every weekend from May to September so we grabbed the once in a lifetime opportunity to ride aboard the beautiful tramlines in the world!

On our first day in this beautiful city, we used our one day travel card that we purchased from the airport.
We enjoyed the unlimited use of public transport including the Thermal tram.
Then we decided to take the Hop-on Hop-off bus for the rest of our stay due to the scorching heat.
The sweltering summer in Budapest shows no sign of abating!

Budapest is the city of baths with many medicinal hot-springs on its territory. Immerse yourself in the alluring atmospheres of the baths of Buda.
You must go to Szechenyi Thermal Bath.

If you love fresh goods, people watching, shopping or just sightseeing in amazing places, you will love the Great Market Hall. It's definitely one of the top Budapest attractions.
Our travel wouldn't be complete without my fridge magnet.

We were famished after walking around the market and shopping so we looked for a place to eat.
There were plenty of food stands and eateries inside the market but it was way too crowded with tourists.
We found this restaurant located on the first floor where you will be seated and it's air conditioned.
Amazing service, everyone selects their meal at the buffet then is carried by a waiter to their table.
Traditional live Hungarian music playing in the corner and the ambience made it feel so homey.
I had Hungarian style pork ribs with rice and Gio had Beef Goulash, one of the most famous dishes from the
Hungarian culinary repertoire.
Later in the evening, after walking along District V / Inner City, we found another
Hungarian Restaurant called Hungarian Hell's Kitchen.
We decided to order the Szarnyas platter to share between two and we were not disappointed.
It includes crispy duck leg, Hungarian style chicken breast fillet, homestead farm style
chicken thigh fillet, steak fries, steamed jasmine rice, potato pancake, fresh mixed salad and homemade fresh mixed pickles.
It was lovely and we enjoyed the traditional Hungarian music played by a local band.
After our sumptuous dinner, we cruised along the Danube River through the heart of Budapest as we sat back and enjoyed the views on our relaxing ride.
The river cruise started at 20:30 so we experienced the city's beautifully illuminated buildings along the banks of the Danube River. The view of the Hungarian Parliament is magical at night.

Thank you for the lovely memories Budapest!
